Overview
Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) is a public university created in 2019 for aerospace and aviation education, formerly named Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University. Its permanent campus is in Lalmonirhat, beside Lalmonirhat Airport, and its first classes were held at a temporary campus at Tejgaon Airport in Dhaka. Its motto is Space and Beyond.
Ulkaa Edu Rank 2027 places AAUB in the 51-75 band, with a national position of 66. The position is computed from the published methodology (version 2027.1), and indicator coverage is 75.5%.
Because the university is new and specialised, some indicators have short histories. No QS or Times Higher Education world or Asia ranking is recorded for it in Ulkaa's data.
The university's path to existence was short and formal. The University Grants Commission drafted the legislation in July 2018, the Council of Ministers approved it in September 2018, and Parliament passed the bill in February 2019. Air Vice-Marshal AHM Fazlul Haque was appointed founding Vice-Chancellor in May 2019. It was described as the first higher education institution in Bangladesh focused on aerospace engineering. After political changes the name was shortened to the present one.
Admission
Admission is to a few engineering and aviation programmes, so the number of seats is small. The first-year intake was 177 in 2023, up from 110 in 2022 and 97 in 2021. Eligibility, subject requirements and the test format are published in the official admission notice at aaub.edu.bd, and they can change between sessions.
